Description

The PSC CAK75XR-OE cylinder assist kit brings full hydraulic steering assist to 2005–2022 Ford F-250 and F-350 4x4 trucks equipped with the Dana 60/Super 60 front axle and radius-arm suspension. It includes the assist cylinder, hose kit, and year-specific axle-side mounting hardware, giving late-model Super Duty owners a complete solution instead of just loose brackets or a ram.

The heart of the system is a single-ended assist cylinder with a 1.5" bore × 8.0" stroke, using 5/8" rod ends and hardware sized for steering loads. A dedicated PSC hose kit is included and cut for typical Super Duty Dana 60/Super 60 placement, tying the cylinder into a ported steering gear so it can share steering effort with the box. A ported steering gear is required—without the correct ports and plumbing, the cylinder will not operate.

A 2005+ specific bolt-on axle mount kit is used to locate the cylinder on the radius-arm Dana 60/Super 60 housing, keeping the ram in the proper plane relative to the tie-rod and knuckles. You’ll still need to bring your own tie-rod clamp or weld tabs to match your particular tie-rod, but the axle-side brackets eliminate guesswork and fabrication on the housing. This makes the kit especially attractive for daily driven work trucks and big-tire off-road builds running 35–40" tires.

Correct setup is critical: set the cylinder at mid-stroke with the steering at true center before tightening the mounts, then cycle the steering lock-to-lock and compress the suspension to check hose routing and clearances. Follow torque specs on all hardware and re-check after your first shakedown drive. A basic toe/alignment check afterward helps keep the truck tracking straight and makes the most of the added assist.

Once installed and dialed in, this PSC cylinder assist system reduces steering effort, cuts down on shimmy and kickback, and improves control when towing, plowing, or wheeling on rough trails. It delivers a clean, bolt-on way to add hydraulic muscle to the 2005–2022 Super Duty steering system while retaining the feel of a traditional steering box, giving owners a durable upgrade path as tire size and duty cycle increase.
