This Revolution Gear and Axle ring and pinion set is a 4.88 ratio gear for the Toyota 8 inch V6 axle used in 2005-23 Tacoma, 2007-14 FJ Cruiser and 2003-09 Lexus GX470. It restores gearing after a lift and larger tires.

The set uses a 29-spline pinion to match the V6 Toyota 8 inch carrier, with an 8.0 inch ring gear and standard rotation, and no carrier break across this family. Gears are 8620 steel, heat treated to OE-level standards and lapped for quiet running.

A 4.88 is one of the most common re-gears for Tacoma and FJ Cruiser owners on 33s and 35s, bringing back the throttle response and crawl ratio that bigger tires take away while keeping highway RPM reasonable.

This is a gear set only. It does not include bearings, an install kit or a locker. Plan on the matching Revolution Toyota 8 inch V6 master install kit, and have an experienced installer set pinion depth, backlash and preload to spec.
