This is a 5.38 ratio thick-cut, dual-drilled ring and pinion gear set for the Dana 44 axle. The thick ring gear design is engineered to fit a 3.73 ratio and numerically lower carrier, so you can run a deep 5.38 ratio without swapping to a high-ratio carrier.

The ring gear is dual drilled with both 3/8-inch and 7/16-inch bolt holes to fit different Dana 44 carriers, and the set uses a standard-rotation 26-spline pinion on an 8.5-inch ring gear. Carrier break is listed at 3.73/3.92. Gears are machined from 8620 steel, heat treated and lapped for a clean, quiet setup.

A 5.38 ratio is built for rigs on large tires that need deep crawling gears, whether that is a heavily built Jeep or another Dana 44 application. The thick-gear, dual-drilled design makes it flexible across carriers when going this low.

This listing is the gear set only. Pinion and carrier bearings, crush sleeve, shims, pinion seal and cover sealant are not included, and a carrier or locker is separate.
