Description
The PSC CAK752R-OE kit is a complete cylinder assist system for 1999–2004 Ford F-250 and F-350 4x4 trucks with a Dana 60 front axle, and it includes the hydraulic assist cylinder, hose kit, and year-specific axle mounting hardware. Rather than just being a bracket kit, this package is intended to add true hydraulic assist steering to Super Duty trucks running larger tires and seeing serious work or off-road use.
At the heart of the system is a single-ended assist cylinder (around 1.5" bore × 8.0" stroke) with 5/8" female and male rod ends and 5/8" ball ends sized for steering duty. A matching PSC hose kit provides the correct routing lengths for standard Dana 60/Super 60 placement, tying the ram into a ported steering gear so assist pressure is available whenever you turn the wheel. A ported steering gear is required—this kit will not work with an unmodified or non-ported box.
To mount the cylinder cleanly, PSC includes a year-specific bolt-on axle mount kit designed for the 1999–2004 Super Duty Dana 60 housing. You will still need to supply your own tie-rod clamp or weld tabs to match your particular tie-rod, but the axle-side brackets keep the ram in the correct plane with the steering linkage. This setup is aimed squarely at daily driven work trucks and big-tire trail rigs that want less steering fight and more control with 35–40" tires.
Proper setup is critical: set the cylinder at mid-stroke with the steering at true center before final tightening so you have equal assist left and right. After everything is bolted up, cycle the steering lock-to-lock and compress the suspension to verify hose routing and clearances, then torque all hardware to spec and re-check after your first shakedown drive. A quick toe and alignment check afterward helps keep the truck tracking straight and makes the most of the new assist.
When installed and set up correctly, this PSC cylinder assist kit reduces shimmy, kickback, and wander, especially on lifted trucks and those that spend time towing or on rough roads. It offers a clean, bolt-on way to add hydraulic muscle to the steering system while retaining the familiar feel of a mechanical steering box, making it a strong upgrade path for 1999–2004 Super Duty owners who have outgrown the limits of the factory steering components.
