The ATS 2nd Gear Accumulator Piston (Located Under the Valve Body) for 1989-2007 Dodge/Ram Cummins is an ATS Diesel Performance upgrade for trucks that see added power, heat, or heavy towing. ATS designs its parts around the failures it sees in its own transmission and engine work, so each upgrade targets a known weak point.

Accumulator pistons cushion each clutch as it applies during a shift. When the factory pistons or their seals leak, line pressure drops during the shift and the clutches slip, which shows up as soft or flared shifts and burnt clutches.
