Revolution Gear & Axle Discovery Series Rear Axle Kit for Jeep (1987-06) Wrangler TJ, Dana 44 (4140 Chromoly, Disc Brake)

This is a Revolution Gear & Axle Discovery Series rear axle shaft kit for the 1987-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ with a Dana 44 rear axle and disc brakes. It replaces the factory rear axle shafts with stronger 4140 chromoly units for rigs that have outgrown stock shafts.

The shafts are dual-drilled in both 5x4.5 and 5x5.5 bolt patterns for flexible wheel fitment, and they ship with bearings, seals, and retainers already pressed on so the assembly is ready to install. The kit also includes a set of 10 wheel studs (not pre-installed); install them with red threadlocker and torque to 90 ft-lbs.

This kit is the right fix for a TJ owner who has broken or twisted a factory axle shaft, or who is building a Dana 44 rear for larger tires and more aggressive use. The 4140 chromoly material adds meaningful strength over the stock shafts while keeping the factory disc-brake setup.

This is an axle shaft kit only. It does not include a ring and pinion, carrier, locker, or any gears – those are separate. Confirm you have the disc-brake Dana 44 rear in a 1987-06 TJ before ordering, since drum-brake rears use different components.

Discovery Series axles are backed by a 10-year warranty covering manufacturing defects and axle breakage, including bent axles and twisted splines; bearings and seals (normal wear) are not covered. The warranty is non-transferable.
