This Revolution Gear & Axle ring and pinion set fits the Toyota 8.0" IFS front (clamshell) differential on 2005-23 Tacoma, 2010-14 4Runner, 2007-14 FJ Cruiser, 2003-09 Lexus GX470, 2010-14 Lexus GX460, and the 2003-09 Land Cruiser Prado 120 overseas model, cut in a 4.56 ratio as a thick, reverse-cut gear.
The thick ring gear is the key spec: it allows a 4.56 to bolt onto a 3.73-and-numerically-lower carrier without changing carriers, which saves cost on the front IFS re-gear. The pinion is 29-spline, the gears are reverse cut for the IFS front, and they're made from heat-treated 8620 steel. The carrier break is 3.73/3.91.
This set is aimed at Toyota mid-size trucks and SUVs being built for larger tires, where you re-gear to recover acceleration and crawl ratio lost to taller rubber. To keep the front and rear axles in sync, run a matching 4.56 ratio in the Toyota 8" rear axle.
