This Revolution Gear and Axle ring and pinion set is a 5.29 ratio gear for the Toyota 8 inch axle used in 1986-95 Pickup, 1995-04 Tacoma, 2000-06 Tundra and 1984-04 4Runner. It is aimed at trucks running very large tires.

The set uses a 27-spline pinion to match the turbo 4Cyl and V6 Toyota 8 inch carrier, with an 8.0 inch ring gear and standard rotation, and no carrier break across this family. Gears are 8620 steel, heat treated to OE-level standards and lapped for quiet running.

A 5.29 is the deepest ratio in this family and is a crawler favorite, giving heavily built Tacomas, Tundras, Pickups and 4Runners on 35s and larger the gearing needed to keep the engine in its powerband off-road.

This is a gear set only. It does not include bearings, an install kit or a locker. Plan on the matching Revolution Toyota 8 inch master install kit and have an experienced installer set pinion depth, backlash and preload to spec.

For a big-tire Toyota build, a 5.29 ring and pinion is an OE-quality way to recover the crawl ratio and drivability that large tires take away.
