Description
This is the Revolution Gear & Axle ring and pinion set for the front Dana 30 reverse rotation axle in 2007–18 Jeep Wrangler JK and 2018–26 JL non-Rubicon models, in a 4.88 ratio. It is a direct regear for the high-pinion front Dana 30 in these Wranglers.
The set is cut from 8620 alloy steel and heat treated to meet or exceed OE standards. It uses the Dana 30 26-spline front pinion with a 7.2-inch ring gear and a reverse rotation cut to suit the front-axle orientation. The carrier break sits at 3.55/3.73, so moving up to 4.88 generally requires a matching carrier.
A 4.88 is one of the most common regear choices for non-Rubicon JK and JL owners running roughly 35-inch tires, bringing back the acceleration, throttle response, and towing manners lost when tire size goes up. Always regear the front and rear to the same ratio.
This is a gear set only. It does not include bearings, a crush sleeve, shims, or a pinion seal, and it does not include a carrier. If your factory carrier falls on the wrong side of the 3.55/3.73 break for 4.88, you will need a new carrier as well.
