This Revolution Gear and Axle ring and pinion set is a 5.29 ratio gear for the Toyota 8 inch axle found in 1979-95 4-cylinder Pickup and 1984-95 4Runner. It is aimed at owners who have gone big on tires and need to get their gearing back.

The set uses a 27-spline pinion to match the 4-cylinder Toyota 8 inch carrier, with an 8.0 inch ring gear and standard rotation. There is no carrier break across this gear family, and the gears are made from 8620 steel, heat treated to OE-level standards and lapped for quiet running.

A 5.29 is about as deep as it gets and is a favorite on rock crawlers and heavily built mini-truck and 4Runner rigs, where a small four-cylinder needs all the mechanical advantage it can get to turn 33-inch and larger tires.

This is a gear set only. It does not include bearings, an install kit or a locker. Plan on the matching Revolution Toyota 8 inch master install kit, and have the gears set up by an experienced installer to get pinion depth, backlash and preload correct.

For an older Toyota that has been built up for the trail, a 5.29 ring and pinion is an OE-quality way to make a four-cylinder usable again under big tires.
